Elision
Definition:
Elision is the omission of sounds, syllables, or words in spoken or written discourse.
Discussion:
Unstressed syllables and words are the most prone to be elided.
Examples:
- /kamra/ 'camera'
- cuppa tea 'cup of tea'
- cats 'n dogs 'cats and dogs'
